In addition to building and playing barrel organs, Lionel Hartley, is a solo campanologist (handbell ringer)
Along with his handbell ringer wife, Rosemary, they form a playing duo: The Hartley Handbells.
They own several sets of precision bells including small off-the-table bells and a full range children's set.
Lionel has re-written a host of musical scores specifically for handbells and has midi-rendered a selection of accompaniments.
Their growing repertoire ranges from hymns, songs and carols through to classical, folk and contemporary pieces.
By invitation they play at charity concerts, churches, nursing homes, markets, carols-by-candlelight, schools, etc.
