Published work: Trains: A Traveller’s Tale

Published by: L&R Hartley

Illustrated by: Lionel Hartley, PhD PLUS photos by the author.

This is a true story that is "the same but different": a traveller’s tale, but the backpacker is a 53 year-old woman travelling mostly by train. She visits Paris, Wales, Prague and many other places. She is interested in public transport and renewable energy for environmental reasons, and this motivates some (but not all) of her travel. It’s interspersed with poems, the original published and unpublished work of the author, plus a couple of Wordsworth quotations, with ironic comparisons with what is there now. There are photographs too in the form of an interactive 'Photo Album/Slide-show. There is a sequel further along the track.

Publication Date: 2007

Available from: The Author (preferred option) or L&R Hartley Merchandising.
