Submitted Profile: From a very early age, my artistic flair had led me to drawing, oil-painting, ballet, acting and most of all — writing. I experienced my first public writing and drawing in the aftermath of World War II. Many schools had been destroyed. When finally the education system normalised, the lack of textbooks and general educational material prompted our school’s principal to engage myself and other artistic students to design exercise books with alphabets, mathematics, pictures and stories. It was a primitive tool, but helped teaching the younger pupils. From then on, my passion for writing and painting grew. Although I wrote many stories, painted and drew pictures, I kept them private. Harsh memories in Germany prompted me to seek greener pastures elsewhere, so I migrated to Australia, single, naïve and inexperienced. I could not speak English, let alone the Australian slang, but learned very quickly and the hard way, what life was all about. I married and had 3 wonderful sons, whom I raised on my own after my divorce. I have held many responsible position in the workforce and been a volunteer in the community. My writing really took form after my arrival in Australia. It started off as handwritten notes, recording events as they unfolded. When I acquired a computer, the notes were converted into stories and books.
