Published work: An Ordinary Life

Publication Date: 2009

Notes: This is a series of short stories designed to capture snapshots of an unusual set of experiences gleaned from growing up in a tiny Australian country town and moving onto the world corporate stage. It is intended to suggest that everyone has a story to tell, and often it is the most seemingly ordinary who have the most extraordinary stories.

Published work: The Jorge Diaries: A Dog's View of Life

Publication Date: 2009

Notes: We are told that what sets humans apart from animals are two characteristics. Our ability to exercise free will and our ability to be altruistic. If this is true then the small four-legged person who shares the life of writer Julie Boyd is in fact more human than dog. His ability to think, plan, problem solve and be entrepreneurial are becoming legendary. He loves water. The surfers on the local beach are trying to teach him to surf. His long stilt-like legs not really designed for board riding but he can stand up really well on a body board. One of the most significant healing factors in this past year has been the entree of Jorge-dog into the author's life. A small black and white bundle of fluff, with gangly uncontrollable stilt legs that make him look more like an uncoordinated clown than a capable puppy, but with a great philosophy on life: Take risks, watch where you leap, and make sure there is a cuddler there to get you out of trouble!
