Sharpshooter
A novel by David L. Hoof

Multimedia CDROM with bonus book
Set in the dying Montana town of Sanctuary, Sharpshooter pits the local lawman, Redfawn Kravitz, against the recent killer of U.S. Senate candidate Jeb Holloway, a powerful man with lots of enemies. The weapon that killed Holloway is a Sharps buffalo rifle, an antique western curiosity. Even the slug seems to have come through time, as if the murderer stepped out of the past, took his shot and returned to the time just after the Battle of Little Bighorn, when the Holloways began grabbing up land at bargain prices.
It's a pure enough western, or maybe a murder mystery set in a dying west, with enough hot romances and affairs to keep the reader's blood boiling. Through the investigation, as witnesses keep dropping like flies, the reader is introduced to a host of vivid, quirky characters and enough motives to make for a long suspect list.
Sharpshooter is modern in the sense of being present day, but western in terms of the ruggedness and traditional views of its characters. It isn't likely you'll guess who dunnit till the last chapter.
